Hainan Island

Hainan Island can be listed in my life the farthest place I have ever stepped on.Before I went there,coconut trees and fine weather had dominated my mind.However I found myself totally distracted by other characteristics about Hainan-its unique transportation,goods trade and entertainment.
Hainan has broad highways without traffic lights and toll gates.Petrol filled is charged with road toll included already.Thus it saves much of the time to reach a destination in Hainan;meanwhile,it stimulates the number of private cars.
Smuggling on the island is banned in a way,but it is commonly acknowledged,for the needs of this market still exist.It seems those cheap smuggled goods are confined within Hainan.If you want them back to your hometown,it remains a great headache.
The entertainment,as it were,was brought in from southeast Asia,such as performances of transsexuals,services of the red light district and gambling.
From words above,it appears both good and bad flow to the island.Actually,these are the very features of Hainan.To me,Hainan with such features is more like a miniature of the modernized old-Shanghai,as precious in my eyes as the yearly-accumulated treasure in the childhood tin box.
It can be called the dreamy land of our souls.
